Australian Studies at Deakin University, Australia

1 Description
This study tour, led by our instructor, aims to provide training opportunities in English language at Deakin University, Australia. It also provides on-site learning opportunities in Australian society, culture, nature and environmental problems based on the program developed jointly by Deakin and Shiga University staff.  Students can also choose to study English with students from different countries in Integrated Program.

3 Schedule
about 4 weeks in February-March
4 Cost
Approximately JPY 370,000 (note: the cost is subject to change due to airfare changes or fluctuations of exchange rates).
5 Pre-departure orientation
Pre-departure orientations are available for students interested in the study tour. Orientations for students interested in the tour are held at Hikone Campus and Ostu Campus in early December. Orientations for the participants will be held at Otsu Campus in early February.
6 Credit
Two credits may be earned for participation in this program.
7 Submission of a report
Students are given several assignments by Deakin instructors and are asked to give presentations in English at the end of the course on what they have studied.  Accompanying Shiga University instructor will evaluate the grades based on the reports of the students’ performance provided by Deakin instructors as well as on the students’ usual achievements.
8 Other remarks
Each student will stay with Australian family and commute to Burwood Campus in Melbourne. DUELI classes are held from 9am to 3:30pm. All courses are provided by Deakin instructors.
Generally, no activity is involved on weekends during the tour, so students are free to spend weekends with host families and friends. In the last few days of the tour students will receive on-site training outdoors in groups on such subjects as nature and environment. (The location of the training is subject to change each year.)
