Loan / Aid

Loan funded by the association of international students supporters

Since its establishment of the association of international students supporters in 1997, this loan system has been funded by donations provided each year by Shiga University staff. The funding is utilized as emergency loans to cover the costs for international students' housing, grants for activities for international students, etc., thereby relieving financial hardships suffered by international students and supporting them to experience a significant university life.

Loan of JPY 100,000

Fire Insurance Aid

For international students, Shiga University covers half of the premium of the fire insurance policy or comprehensive housing insurance policy required for renting an apartment. Loan System for International Students in Shiga Prefecture

This loan system provides international students temporary funding for emergency payment to enable them to concentrate on their studies by relieving their financial pressure.The system is funded by donations provided by universities, local governments, economic organizations and international exchange organizations belonging to AIG collaboration conference, as well as by businesses and individuals supporting this system.

Eligibility

  1. Student in need to pay medical costs due to illness or injury
    (including the medical costs for his/her spouse and/or child/children staying in Japan with the student)
  2. Student in need to pay a deposit/key money to rent a private apartment
    (including the cost required to purchase furnishings)
  3. Student who needs to return home temporarily due to family matters
    (including the travel costs required for his/her spouse and/or child/children staying in Japan with the student)
  4. Student in need of emergency funding due to natural disaster or damage
    (including damage caused by fire or robbery

Amount of Loan

Loans can be made by the ten thousand yen up to a hundred thousand yen.

How to Repay the Loan

The loan is to be repaid within ten months either by equal monthly payment or by lump-sum payment, starting in the following month from when the loan was made.
